April 14, 1936 - January 11, 2018 It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Snookal Snyder, 81, announce her passing at her home on Thursday, Jan 11th at 1:45pm. She was our mentor, our inspiration, our role model. To quote her grandson, Ryan, we "all valued that simple wasn't enough, your A+ game was the only game she was interested in playing against. She was and always will be the true captain and pioneer of our family. She touched everyone who was lucky enough to cross her path, only a hero like her was capable of such a feat." Loving mother and dear friend to many including friends from LA High School, her Dantes sorority sisters and many customers and business associates. Marilyn was born here in Los Angeles to Mollie and Sam Snookal. She was formerly married to Jerrold Rabin and Martin Welan but in 1969 she married Kenneth Snyder and they were together for more than 25 years when he predeceased her. Some of the highlights of her life were traveling the world, celebrating holidays with a huge family, living at the beach and owning her successful retail business, Linens et al, for 38 years. Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by seven children and their spouses: Debra, Marla & David, Shari & Danny, Brad & Luz, Nori & Scott, Julie & Andrew, Karen & Scott; eleven grandchildren: Matthew, Alixandra, Ryan, Mardi, Elliot, Katelyn, Fletcher Stephanie, Landon, Evan and Macy; and friends too numerous to name but never forgotten. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Sondra and by her husbands, Jerry, Martin and Kenneth. Services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 17th at Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stop Cancer 2566 Overland Ave # 790, Los Angeles, CA 90064 or the cancer charity of your choice.
