Michael Anthony Eaton
Michael Anthony Eaton passed away of natural causes on December 3rd 2017.
Mike was born in Los Angeles to Earl and Evelyn Eaton on June 15, 1936. The second child of 4, Mike grew up in a loving home and graduated from Mt Carmel High School in 1954. After spending 4 proud years serving his country in the US Navy, he returned to LA and married his long time sweetheart Diane Devine (Eaton). As his career at TWA Airlines progressed, they moved around the country to major air hubs, eventually returning to LA blessed with 3 children; Theresa, James and Thomas. Although the couple separated in 1975, they stayed close with Mike as a loving parent and eventually a grandparent of 7. Mike is survived by Diane Eaton, his children Theresa Layn, Jim Eaton (Maureen McNulty), Thom Eaton (Jan Gorelick), siblings Mary Eaton and John (Maureen) Eaton and grandchildren Kelsey, Katie, Tristen, JD, Wesley, Will and Grace. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Evelyn Eaton, sister Nancy Baumgartner, brother-in-law Thomas Baumgartner.
As a person, he was a man who always had a smile for a friend or a stranger, a joke was never far off, he loved the beach, he attended St Matthew's regularly and most of all he was a man who loved his country, his family and extended family and was appreciative to his siblings, 50+ nieces/nephews for all the care and support they showed him.
A visitation will be held Thursday December 7th at McKenzie Mortuary of Long Beach from 4-8pm with a Rosary starting at 7pm. Funeral mass at St Matthew's Catholic Church (Long Beach) will be at 10am on Friday December 8th followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery (LA).
He will be missed for his humor, kindness, laughter, friendship and love. May his flag fly high in heaven!
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Mike's honor. Please sign the guest book at www.presstelegram.com/obits.

Mike was my first boss after I graduated from college and was likely the best. He was a mentor and we remained in contact throughout the years. He is truly missed.

Mike was a warm and generous man who I was blessed to know. I worked with him for several years and it was amazing to see a 70 year old out muscle people half his age. I will always cherish the many laughs he provided me and I am heartbroken at his loss. The world is definitely diminished without him

The best kind of people are the ones that come into our life and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people that believe in you so much, that you start to believe in you too. The people that love you, simply for being you. The once in a lifetime kind of friend.
Mike, you will certainly be missed. I am so grateful for the many times you were there for me offering a hand or a kind word.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
