Vilda "Pooh" Flint
On the morning of July 28, Vilda "Pooh" Flint passed away peacefully at home with her daughters, Janice and Marilyn, by her side. Pooh was born in Flagstaff, Arizona on September 28, 1930. During her childhood, she lived in several different locations with her parents, sister and brother. They eventually settled in Southern California, where she lived for the rest of her life. In 1960, Pooh and her husband, Jerry, found the "house on the beach" that they had been searching for. It was there, on the Long Beach peninsula, that they raised their family and provided a warm and welcoming home for all who entered. Pooh's joyful nature touched so many lives. No story about Pooh would be complete without an entire chapter devoted to her sense of humor and her ability to bring fun and laughter to every gathering. Both church and community benefitted greatly from her devotion to service. Her passing will impact not only family and those who had the good fortune to know her for many years, but also those who knew her briefly. Pooh had that rare gift of instant friendship. A moment in her presence and you knew you'd met someone special. You walked away from every encounter with Pooh feeling a bit more happy and a bit more optimistic about the world. As we mourn our loss, we can remember a very special woman filled with an intense love of life and a strong desire to share that love with every one of us.
For those who knew Pooh well, here is a puzzle for you. Unscramble the letters to reveal one of Pooh's well known sayings and philosophies:
"Ym Emga, Ym Sreul."
Services for Pooh will be held on Monday, August 4 at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, 6500 E. Atherton St., Long Beach, CA 90815. Remembering Pooh and Jerry both, sitting on their beachfront porch watching the sunsets and giving ratings on scale of 1 to 10. Many times they would give a holler of "that was an 11" or higher! And always with a huge happy smile and laughter.

I feel very blessed to have met Pooh. We'll miss her down here on earth but I know they are smiling a little wider in Heaven, now that she's there.
