Rex Thomas Glover, age 79, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2018. He was born in Kermit, Texas on May 13, 1939 to George and Jean Glover. Rex lived in Las Cruces since he was 6 years old and was a graduate of Las Cruces High School, class of 1958. He attended New Mexico State University and was the Owner of Metro Mechanical Incorporated.
Rex was a passionate, loving, caring and generous family man. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and began each day with the prayer of St. Francis and thanked God for blessing him, allowing him to live long enough to know his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a very strong work ethic and was the first one to arrive at the office each morning at 6am, even on his last day. He often told his kids "don't ever do anything half-ass and if you get knocked down, get up and keep trying". He loved the many dogs he rescued throughout his life. Now his children and grandchildren do the same. He loved, respected and appreciated his loyal and hard-working employees of which many had been with him for decades.
Those left to mourn his passing include his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Irma (Lupita) Glover, daughter Teresa Glover of Pasadena, CA; son Steve Glover of Seattle, WA; son John Patrick Glover of Las Cruces, NM; grandson Justin Patrick Glover and wife Dorothy; granddaughter Taylor Glover Garrison and husband Christopher, both of Las Cruces, NM; great-grandchildren Joseph Patrick Glover and Amara Grace Glover; Susie Barela and husband Martin, Susie was like a daughter to him; brothers Jack Glover and wife Virginia and Paul Glover and wife Cindy, both of Muskogee, OK; sister-in-law Rosie Maynez of Las Cruces, NM; cousins Johnny Keating and wife Linda of Las Cruces, NM; Judy Keating of Albuquerque, NM and many nieces and nephews. Rex was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Glover.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine (3600 Paroquia St., Tortugas, NM) with Prayer Vigil to begin at 9 am. The funeral mass will follow at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery (5140 W. Picacho) where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Justin Glover, Enrique Sierra, Mike Glover, Steve Ortiz, Christopher Garrison and Martin Barela.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the NMSU Maynez Family Endowed Scholarship (C/O NMSU Foundation Inc.) which was his gift to his loving wife Lupita on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Dear Lupita and Glover family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your beloved husband, father and family member. As you know, I knew Rex for almost all the years he was part of the Maynez family. He was generous, loving and caring. I enjoyed his sense of humor and astute insights on life. I will miss seeing him on my next visit to Las Cruces. May his loving legacy bring peace to you and all of Rex's family.
