To Cookie, Logan, Jud & entire family,
Brian & I and the boys were sadden to hear about Dale. Brian & I always thought you & Dale were very special people. Dale was a great coach & Michael & Jeremy loved playing football for him. He taught all the football players so much, but just didn't teach it, he lived it. He will surely be missed by so many. Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Logan,Jud and Cookie,
I join the countless others saddened by the loss of Dale. He had a communities respect and admiration. His work, positive influence and the constant, caring, high energy, example, over flowing with enthusiasm was an inspiration. I'm honored to have been touched (as were our sons Andy & Ben) by his spirit and to have been able to share a few (road!) bike rides. With great sadness and in friendship,

hello umberger family. i was so shocked when i heard of dales passing. my father is fred goudy. i have come to know dale thru my father because my father too was involved in school as dale was. my father was a school teacher at anville cleona until his retirement and has spoken so highly of dale anytime his name came up in conversation. my fiancee is brian boyer. he had dale in school when he attended cedar crest and commented to me several times too how he just loved dale. anytime we would run in to dale - no matter where it seemed to be - (his best buddy frank hetrick would be with him-SURPRISE?) they all would laugh and carry on about all their great memories from back when brian was in school and they would share those memories with me. dale was a practical joker and such a loving and caring person. when i had first found out that he was sick with this terrible disease i kept telling myself that this can not be true. NOT DALE UMBERGER. may dale rest in peace and god bless your families too. he is at peace now.

Of all the coaches I'v had in my lifetime, Um & Het were the best of the best. Dedication and hard drive influences come few and far between in the world of sports. You only have a limited amount of mentors you can also call a friend, Dale and I were lucky enough to have both. Rest well my friend you deserve a break, and hope to greet you again . . . s o m e d a y.

Jud and family we are so sorry for your loss. Our deepest condolences go out to you and your family. Most of us at the store here only got a chance to meet your dad on a few brief visits. He was always so personal and friendly toward all of us, making a point to talk with everyone he saw that day. After the first couple times of meeting him you would really look forward to seeing him again. Of course the chocolates that he and Cookie would always drop off for us were looked forward to as well. Though I did not know him well it did not take long to see the type of man that he was and the strong family bond that you all have.
From all of us at Philbrick's Sports, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

My deepest sympathy to the Umberger family. Coach touched so many lives both on and off the field. He has made so many boys into men by mentoring and molding them throughout their Middle School and High School years. Although we have lost a Great Man here on Earth, Heaven has gained an Angel who will continue to watch over us for the rest of our lives.
