Wasn't it just yesterday that Katherine walked into the lab followed by those well dressed young grandsons? Running through the Stannard conservation lab-sharing our excitement at the grand opening? I couldn't always tell whether her smile of pride was about the lab itself, or about the pure joy she felt in giving, and in remembering Jerry. It was an honor to work in the Stannard lab, and a privilege to get to know the Stannard family just a little. Thank you all for being so generous, warm and friendly. During my time at KU I always felt like the lab was a family-and Katherine the matriarch! When I heard the news of Katherine passing, I felt such a rush of happy warm feelings, I wanted to make sure the family knows how much she touched me and my colleagues at the library. Please know your family is in my thoughts and prayers. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me.

It is now 11:30 a.m. May 10 and my thoughts and love are with my beloved cousin Katherine and her family at her memorial service as I write this. Would that I could be there in person. Katherine and I first met in Atlanta, GA, in December 1927, when she was nine months old and I was two months old. She, her parents, and three older
brothers, had driven all the way from California to visit their Moore families in Georgia. Katherine and I became very close friends over the ensuing 91 years and shared many memories, some of them funny and some of them sad, but always with lots of love. Erica, Greta, and Daphne are all wonderful legacies that she and Jerry gave to me and others and I love them all dearly. Thank you each and all for the memories.

I have the pleasure of working in Conservation Services at KU. Our department would not be as vibrant and productive as it is without Katherine's gift to build a conservation laboratory. We will always be incredibly grateful for her interest in conservation. I will miss her bright smile and positive energy. Condolences to all those who loved her.

Oh how sad I am to hear of Katherine passing. She was such a delightful person. So full of JOY all the time. Always interested in my daughter who sings opera and wanted to know all about her career and what exciting stories I had to share about her. I will truly miss you Katherine you always brighten Garvin and I days at the Neighborhood Hearing Aid Center. May God bless each one of your family always. Love
Bernadette and Garvin
