Hamlet "Chickie" Hackshaw
Mohegan Lake - Hackshaw Hamlet A. (Chickie) of Mohegan Lake passed away on Jan. 3, 2018. Chickie was born May 27, 1937 in New York City, NY to Alfredo & Mona Cochrane Hackshaw. He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On July 21, 1962 he married Diana Mossop. Chickie worked as a mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority until his retirement in 1988. He survived by his wife Diana, daughters Denise Hackshaw, Deborah Berrios (David) and his son Brian Hackshaw. Also survived by 5 grandchildren Arlene, Sean, Joey, Matthew, Christopher and 3 great grandchildren Julius, Lazarus and Demetrius. Family & friends will honor Chickie's life at the Yorktown Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10am. Entombment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Hackshaw will be greatly missed. He was a very good man; and always willing to help. We had many conversations over the years; and talked about current events. He was a great husband, and father. My condolences to the entire family.

Sorry for your loss. Attended the funeral on Wednesday 1/10/18. It was a very nice ceremony. A salute to an Air Force veteran. May you fly high and true in the next life, sir.
