I was on the Care Team at St. Thomas Church when Jane
helped with visits to some of our care partners. She was
so vibrant and brought a lot of joy to those she visited.
I enjoyed hearing about her visits at our meetings. I had
no idea of her career as a journalist. How special and
exciting for her. My condolences and sympathy to you all.

learned so much from this great person and journalist in my early days as a reporter, I can't begin to do her justice. I used to study Jane's stories every day just to learn how to do my job better. That often meant scribbling notes in the newspaper's margins over my morning coffee, underlining questions, quotes, transitions -- her choice of words! -- all in an effort to come closer to her authoritative reporting and her readable, no-nonsense writing style. It was a veritable Jane McMahon Master's Degree in journalism! Honesty, accuracy, integrity and finesse -- this ballsy woman (I think Jane's OK with that adjective) had it all. But most of all, she taught me about tenacity and how to pound a story home using tough questions that set the traps so the real bums can't get away. Hah! Thanks Jane! You were always a class act and a great mentor. -- John Alcott
