Les and I knew each other for all but the first six years of our lives. We shared schooling in the Bronx, and I followed him to Wisconsin. His decency and integrity were guiding lights for me. As adults, we saw less of each other, certainly after I moved away from New York, first in 1970, again in 1985. But each meeting thereafter was memorable, e.g., in D.C. and later in Orlando, FL. Bev was by his side on each occasion. They were a wonderful team. May the living treasure what he stood for in his 83 years on earth.
