Joanne M. Bertram (Emhardt)
Joanne M. Bertram (Emhardt), 71, of Mahopac, died Friday, October 20, 2017 surrounded by her family at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Joanne was born on June 30, 1946 in The Bronx to John and Aline Emhardt. She attended St. Benedict's Grammar School, Villa Maria Academy, and Bellevue School of Nursing. After graduating she worked as a pediatric nurse in Jacobi Hospital and later as a school nurse for the Lakeland School District until 2008. Joanne volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Shrub Oak. She enjoyed running with friends from TRRC, traveling and spending time in LBI with her family. She married her husband Bill in 1968 at St. Benedict's Church in The Bronx. Joanne is survived by her husband Bill, three daughters, Lynn (Mike) Stepkoski of Mahopac, Colleen (Tony) Ferrajina of South Salem, Erin Bertram of Mahopac, her four grandchildren, Connor and Kerriann Stepkoski, and Isabella and Julianna Ferrajina. She is also survived by her sister Peggy (Frank) Reilly, brother John (Marie) Emhardt, niece and nephews, and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MSKCC.org. Family and friends will honor the life of Joanne on Monday from 7-9pm, and Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Yorktown Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:15am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
