Ryan Rutledge

Southbury - Ryan Anthony Rutledge, 17, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2021. He was the beloved son of Anthony and Valerie (Kuehn) Rutledge; and twin brother of Patrick Francis Rutledge. Ryan was a junior at Pomperaug High School achieving high honors, and enrolled in numerous AP courses. When he wasn't studying, he was quite the athlete playing every sport imaginable. At school he played lacrosse, football, golf, weight lifting, and was on the ski team. He wasn't just talented in sports though, some of his other talents included playing 3 instruments fluently by ear, watching and investing in the stock market, solving a Rubik's cube in seconds, and being a master chess player. Some of his other hobbies were sailing, saltwater fishing, playing X-Box, and snowmobiling. Ryan was loved vehemently by everyone who knew him, and he will be missed by many classmates, teammates, and friends. Besides his parents and brother, Ryan is survived by his grandparents: Edward and Carol Rutledge, and Joseph and Sharon Kuehn; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ryan at the church on Friday, April 9, 2021, at 1:00pm. Burial will be private. I don't know Ryan or your family, but I am a Southbury resident and mom of boys and can't stop thinking what you must be going through. My heart feels just a ounce of the pain as a mom and I will pray for you to grieve and heal in a way that will allow you to focus on how blessed you were to have known him for those short 17 years. May God hold you in his arms and may you cling to him for comfort while you grieve this tragic loss.

To a very distraught and bereaved family --
How tragic! Laura and I will add you to our breakfast time daily prayer list. Our young grandson died exactly the same way two years ago on Easter Sunday. If any of you would like to meet with us at a time and

My deepest condolences for him And his family, I briefly knew Ryan from when I worked at Catalyst. Him and his brother were some of the kindest people that I would chat with at night and make shakes for..honestly one of the nicest people to anyone I saw him interact with
