Sarah McGuire

Our dear mother, Sarah McGuire, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021.

Sally was born to George and Catherine (Larkin) Reilly on December 26, 1929 and was raised on Columbus Avenue in Manhattan. She met and fell in love with George P. McGuire from Amsterdam Avenue, and they were happily married for 49 years. In 1965, they moved their family from Inwood, Manhattan to Stony Point, where Sally has resided for the last 56 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and was employed as a Confidential Secretary in the North Rockland School District for many years.

Sally's favorite color was red. She loved spending time with her family, cooking Sunday dinners, knitting, sewing, and going to parades. She also enjoyed attending weekly Stony Point senior citizen meetings and talking on the phone with relatives and friends.

Sally was predeceased by he loving husband George P. McGuire, her brothers John and George Reilly, and son-in-law Lawrence Shankey. She leaves behind her four children: Susan McGuire-Shankey, Michael McGuire, Kevin, and Traci McGuire, and Katie and George Vollmer, as well as two grandchildren, Michael McGuire Jr. and husband Corey, and Delia Shankey. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and her favorite dog, Peanut.

Sally chose not to have a wake; however, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

Oh my favorite Sally! What a wonderful lady with a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humor. You have been a part of my life for my entire life and for the past few years my buddy. I will miss our conversations and I had hoped to get back to NY to see you once again after covid was over. You will be missed here on earth yet I know that heaven is so happy right now with you in it. I know that George and my parents have been awaiting your arrival and welcomed you with open arms. You have lived an extraordinary life. A life that I could only hope for. Now it's time for you to dance and have fun with those who you have missed. I will miss you dear lady. Until we meet again. xoxoxo
