I met Bill, or Guillermo, as we called him there, in Oaxaca about 15 years ago; and liked him immediately. After that, we shared Spanish classes, excursions, coffees, happy hours and meals every winter until his health problems placed Oaxaca's altitude and air pollution off limits. He became a firm friend. His interest in Oaxacan and European history, art, architecture, literature, music and languages gave us much in common; and we emailed regularly until very recently.
Guillermo, I miss your company!

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. (Psalms 116:15)

Bill, I have often said that the single most valuable educational experiences of my life were your Grade 10 and 11 English lessons at Montana. It was a gift that paid back the rest of my life. Thank you for your guidance and friendship. I shall never forget you.
