I'm very sorry to hear of Capt Carroll's passing. I have very fond memories of this gentle giant. Growing up on Rogers Street, across the street from Engine #11, Cap was larger than life to me. He was always very kind to me, and went out of his way to say "hi." As I grew up and departed Louisville I never forgot him ; I think he was proud of the 4 yrs I spent in the USMC, and I always visited when home on leave. He was always glad to see me and that's memory that will not be forgotten. I wish the family gentle peace during this time of grief and sorrow.

I will missing seeing him out in the back yard this summer. We were his next door neighbors. He always throw his sticks over our fence so we could use them in our fire pit. When the time comes I sure hope we get neighbors as nice as he was. The Bruncks
