Ed and I started our careers in Paintsville, Ky about 1949-he in radio and me in newspaper. Our careers paralleled somewhat throughout our lives, We both worked for Rounsaville Radio, Atlanta for years, but that only tells a small portion, We have kept in contact until spring of 2017 and we sent him a 2017 Christmas card, not knowing of the sad news. He and Bette and my wife Anne and I were best of friends and our paths crossed ever so many times over the years. Not a year ever went by that we didn't connect in so many ways.

I'm late in getting this posted, so my apologies to the family. I've had the enormous pleasure of knowing Ed since the late 1960's - worked for him at WHAS where he appointed me the station's first manager and gave me an enormous boost to a great career in broadcast. For me, career highlights revolve around the people we've been fortunate to know and for whom we have great respect. To me, Ed was first and foremost a terrific human being who just happened to be a broadcaster. I'm deeply saddened - but so happy and enriched to have known him.

Ed and Betty Shadburne were neighbors of me and my Wife, Gloria(Bea) Sharpe. Ed was a wonderful friend and they played bridge once a month in our Goose Creek bridge club. He will be missed dearly as well as his wife, Betty.. It was a pleasure to know them. With Love and sympathy, Dick Sharpe, Betsy Bugg, and Bea Sharpe.
