My condolences to Mrs. Gloria Smith and family. I met Mr. Smith in the fall of 1978 as a student and work study of his Department. Throughout the years at IUN he was my first supervisor and friend. We shared many laughs. Words have life and his words of wisdom will live on. I'm glad he shared his life along my way. My prayers of strength continue with you and your family.

God bless your family. Mr. Smith was instrumental in my academic career and helped to shape my life. He was a great mentor and friend.

Mrs. Smith,
We were truly blessed by you and Mr. Smith being our neighbors for several years. Mr. Smith will be cherished in our thoughts and hearts forever. We love you and are praying for you. May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and give you peace.

God continues to amaze us even with His sense of humor. Who would have known our family of choice would have grown out of a relationship between the retired Vice Chancellor of IU, Gary Indiana and the parents of a Purdue University engineer. Ernest's love reached beyond rivalries and race. What a remarkable man, friend, mentor and surrogate grandparent. We will miss him dearly; think of him often and love him forever. We celebrate his life with you and his legacy. Gloria, may God's peace and favor be yours dear friend.
