My dad taught me so much and shaped who I am today. We have so many special memories. I love you and miss you, dad.

Dear Diane, Josh , and Allie,

I just found out about Bob's passing. At Indiana University, we were "phone box" neighbors our freshman year
and roommates the following three years. We shared many coming of age experiences (often comical) during our college years together. Bob's intelligent humor always made me laugh. From the few family visits we had,
it was obvious Bob's greatest happiness came from being a loving husband and father. With our deepest
sympathy.

Joe and Elaine Abbott and Family

Bob was a mentor to a generation of journalists who went on to win Pulitzers and other national awards. He had a sly sense of humor but he was deadly serious about ethics and getting the facts right. Many of those he helped came out of school and into the frying pan of deadlines. He helped us through historic times of busing, racial justice, integration and the economic turbulence of factory shutdowns. He was there with his calmness and quick quip. Bob, I'd say rest in peace but knowing you there are a lot of heavenly projects with your name on it.

Dear Diane, Josh and Allie,

My heartfelt condolences to you upon the passing of your husband and father. As so many have mentioned, I recall his kindness, wonderful sense of humor, soft-spoken manner yet utter frankness. He was always willing to help us out at St. Francis in those early computer days--"Bob, help. . .!!" And he would come willingly with that great smile. May your memories sustain you and help bring you comfort and peace.

God Bless,
Karen
