Russell C. Childress
Louisville - 78 of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Hugh & Catherine Childress, and his brother: Odell Childress.
Russell graduated from Eastern High School in 1957. He retired from L&N Railroad in 2000. He was a member of Louisville Area Iris Society since 2000. Russell donated to Shelbyville Animal Society and other "no kill" animal shelters. He was an avid UK fan.
He is survived by his wife: Velta Childress, son: Daniel Childress (Lynne); daughters: Cathy Fishburn (Noah) & Joyce Bringenberg (Larry); stepdaughter: Tammy Hart (John); sister in law: Laura Hunt; 9 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 18, 2018 2-7pm at Arch L. Heady & Son, 8519 Preston Hwy. Funeral services will be Monday, March 19, 2018 11am in the chapel. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.
