Shroat, Jacqueline "Jackie" Lee Gardner,

84, of Frankfort, passed away on March 23, 2017.

Visitation will be at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home, 1725 Louisville Road in Frankfort, KY on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 2-5 pm. Funeral service will be at the First United Methodist Church, 211 Washington Street in Frankfort, KY at 10 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2017. The burial will take place at Murray City Cemetery, Murray, KY on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. (CDT)

Jackie was born in Murray, KY on June 29, 1932. She graduated from Jeffersonville High School in Jeffersonville, IN in 1950. She went on to graduate from Murray State University in 1954 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught school in Clarksville, IN and Charlestown, IN.

Jackie was a member of the following organizations: United Way Board, Girl Scout Leader, First United Methodist Church (Faith Circle, Stephens Minister, Sage Sunday School Class), Kings Daughters of America (Silent Workers Circle), Younger Women's Club and Women's Club of Frankfort, Red Cross Board, KY Retired Teachers' Association (associate member), Treasurer of Franklin County High School Band Parent's Organization, and Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.

She was married to Dr. Carl Shroat of Murray, KY. She was a devoted wife and fantastic mother to four daughters. She was an avid reader (read for the Kentucky School for the Blind) and loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Carl Shroat, Grandsons, Kevin and Jeffrey Graham, Sister Sue Alice McLemore, Parents Jack and Alma Gardner.

She is survived by daughters, Carol Graham and husband Mark, Debbie Hohman and husband Jeff. Sandra Bush and husband Charles, and Jackie Sue Hughes and husband Bill. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Graves of New Albany, Dr. Richard Gardner of Bradenton, FL, and Sam Gardner of Jeffersonville, IN, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one great-grandchild due in May.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Navigators at 2409 Members Way, Lexington, KY 40504 and First United Methodist Church Building Fund in Frankfort. You may share memories and leave condolences on her tribute page at www.ljtfuneralhome.com.
