MACKIN, Virginia "Ginny" Frank,
Known to most as Gmom.
Gmom passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 14, 1937 to the late Charles J. "Gramps" and Anna E. Frank.
She moved to Louisville, KY to attend Ursuline College where she met Joseph Leo Mackin, Jr. Together they had five children: Mike, Jeff, Kim, Jay, and Craig.
Gmom was a devout Catholic who worked religiously with the Archdiocese of Louisville, The Queens Daughters, Family Scholar House, and Catholic Charities. She also cherished her time spent with her Benedictine Sisters of Ferdinand, especially her many trips to Patoka Lake with the beloved Sisters.
She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was passionate about coaching her children and grandchildren in any sport imaginable, and she was very committed to supporting her grandchildren in all that they did. Gmom also loved traveling the world with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her four sisters: Betty, Mary, Ethel and Ronnie.
Gmom is survived in life by her five children: Mike (Katy), Jeff (Kim), Kim, Jay (Lisa), and Craig. Her eighteen grandchildren: Lauren (Kyle), Jessica (Nick), Bradley, Chris, Ethan, Veronica, Katherine, Caroline, Ashley, Paige, Holly, Nick, Bryce, Connor, Nicole, Colin, Joey and Noah. And her five great-grandchildren: Griffin, Cooper, Olivia, Emma Rose, and Max.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, "in St. Matthews". Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 7813 Shelbyville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

I'm so sorry to hear about GMom. She was a terrific lady so full of energy. Her zest for life serves as a great inspiration to us all. She truly lived every minute of every day and will be missed by all of those she touched. My best wishes to all of her family as they face the challenging days ahead.
