Greg, Jeff, Ted, and Carl jr. ,

I am very sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of growing up on Barnes Ave. Your Mom and Dad made it a special place to be a kid. We have found ourselves in Northport on several occasions in recent years and would drive past the cottage.
I would tell my wife about those wonderful times we always had on the lake. Remembering those trips up north always brings a smile. You guys are in our prayers.

It was our good fortune to meet Carl and Ellie shortly after their arrival to the Northwoods of Wisconsin! They joined our church, and quickly became active members and part of a wonderful group of "early" retired people, who had great fun with each other. Carl took on a challenge when the church did a major renovation, his interior design background resulting in a beautiful blend of colors and furnishings, which are still in service. He also did all the flowers for our daughter's wedding 25 years ago, and Ed "paid" for his services by making him a Frank Lloyd Wright design stained glass window.

We celebrated birthdays together, and I always made Ellie's favorite lemon pie. We loved visiting their home, which was full of beautiful collections and art, and seeing what projects Carl was doing at that time...from copper enameling to making elegant Father Christmas and Santa Claus figures. They took us fishing on their lake, and we always could count on a fish fry afterwards.

They were wonderful warm, gracious and loving friends, whom we have missed since their move to Michigan. And we can still hear Carl's happy laugh in our memories.

We were the Lautzenheisers neighbors when they lived on Red Cedar Rd in Okemos. My siblings and I couldnt believe our fortune when their family arrived complete with 3 additional and willing baseball players, night-gamers, card-players, treehouse-builders, ice-skaters and tobogganers. They were the best, albeit somewhat unruly, chums imaginable. And, my parents approved - and truly admired THEIR parents.

What we kids couldnt fathom was the contrast between 3 boys who couldnt stop wrestling each other, and their gracious and serene parents, Carl and Ella. Their home was exquisite, their natures so calm and welcoming - surely we were missing something. Although I could tell where the boys storytelling gifts came from! Very entertaining in their own, more polished way...

Carl and Ella established such a fine family with all of their boys; they have great character and have turned out admirably - just like their noble parents. I am happy Team Lautzenheiser has finally reunited with our Savior. May the family be comforted with that reward we also look to.

Gods Peace.

To all the Lautzenheiser family, So sorry to hear of your Fathers passing. I have great memories of Lucky Lindy and trips to Northport. He was an unique person and full of love. He was not considered an adult to us kids, he was a friend. Both of your parents were very special.
