I am saddened to hear of the loss of this kind good man. I never got he chance to know him as I would have liked, but what I do know is more than sufficient to sincerely mourn his loss. Rest in Blessed Peace, Jim.

His columns were the best, and he cared about everyone. My husband lost his keys during an accident and he made sure this was in one of his columns that someone had them.....so helpful. Also, he wrote for all, never without helpful information. Have really missed his words of wisdom. My you know he earned his halo a long time go!

I didn't know Jim on a personal level but thru his column "The Onlooker". That was always the first thing I read. I also have the book The Onlooker Looks Back. Just by reading those I could tell that Jim was a person that anyone would be happy to call their friend, myself included. My condolences to his children and extended family. You can be proud to have called Jim your father, grandfather, etc. I also offer my condolences, although belated, on the loss of Darl. I only found out about her death as I read Jim's obit and I always remembered her name as he mentioned her often in his columns. They are together once again. I am sure Jim was lost without her. RIP Jim. If anyone deserves it you do.

Sending prayers & condolences to the Hough family!! I followed Mr. Hough's "The Onlooker" in the State Journal for many years. He also autographed his book for my mom and I enjoyed our discussions on several occasions. What an interesting individual he was!! God Bless!!!
