Miriam loved her family. I had the pleasure of working for her and she taught me much about life, grace and love. She loved God and I am blessed to have many sweet memories of her. So very sad for your loss, praying for you that God will give you comfort and peace in the days and weeks ahead. She impacted so many lives and always for the better. God bless you

My husband and I were married and our two girls were baptised at Pilgrim Congregational Church where Miriam was also a member. I remember Miriam as an active, spunky lady, always beautifully dressed with a big smile who greeted everyone warmly on Sunday mornings. I remember being so surprised before one service when Miriam came in with Mr. Mitchell (!), father of Stasia Mitchell who was a class mate and friend of mine from when we were very young, through Jr. High, High school and to the present time. I don't remember if I had to ask Stasia why her father was in church with Miriam or if Stasia had already told me they were going to be married.

I know from Stasia Miriam loved the Mitchells just as she loved the Shellys. Stasia spoke so highly of Miriam as being such an amazing woman and loving person with photos of famiiy, especially the grand and great grandchildren displayed on shelves in her home's den.

Stasia and I, simply due to day to day life, work and raising children had not been in contact with each other for several years. We have since reconnected much due to Miriam because when Stasia and Katie would come to Lansing to visit and help Miriam out as needed, Stasia reached out to me as well. I thank both of them for us reconnecting. Stasia loved being around Miriam and it seemed easy for her to give to her with a happy heart because of the specialness Miriam brought to them being together.

Stacie said there was nothing Miriam liked more than to entertain family at the house. Thus I assume, all the Shellys and Mitchells will miss Miriam like I know Stasia will. I'm sure Miriam will be smiling down, watching on each of you as you grieve her loss, hoping you remember the special happy times you all shared with her. I wish each of you comfort and peace at this time. May the joy Miriam brought to so many fill your heart again soon.

I would like to express my condolences to Eddie and Margie Sherry and their extended families! I have not seen Miriam or Eddie and Margie in along time, but I have thought of you all often! After making a few attempts on FB, without any luck, I am disappointed that I was unable to make contact before Miriam passed! I had so hoped to let her know I often thought of you all and you are all still family, regardless of the time lost and miles in between us! I may not be able to attend funeral, but please know I am there in thought, prayer and spirit! Love to all.... Sheri Groves Smith!
