Norval H. "Pete" Vallance St. Johns Norval H. "Pete" Vallance, age 86, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Sparrow Health Systems Lansing, MI. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Eureka Cemetery on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Pete was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 8, 1927, the son of Roland and Beatrice (Jacobs) Vallance. He married Rose E. Wheeler on June 22, 1959 in Angola, IN. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2012 after nearly 62 years of marriage. Pete served his country in the US Army as a SSG. He was drafted on September 19, 1945 and discharged from active duty on September 15, 1952. During that time, he was a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division. He worked at General Motors, and retired in 1983. Pete was a member of the American Legion Post #153 in St. Johns and Voiture 40 et 8. He is survived by daughter Sherry and Ron Epps of St. Johns, MI, daughter Lola and Quent Scannell of Highland Township, MI, son Gary and Amy Vallance of St. Johns, MI, daughter JoAnn and Lee Esch of Oakman, AL, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, sister Joyce Smith of Grand Rapids, MI, and sister in law Dorothy Vallance of Harrison, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters; Gloria Morris and Betty Prebble, 2 brothers; Wayne Jack Vallance and Robert Vallance; and brother in law Chuck Smith.
