Katy, Texas-
A bright light departed from our lives on Good Friday, March 30, 2018, when Mrs. Marian Elizabeth Linn Caines passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Former resident of both Denver City and Lubbock, Marian most recently called Katy home.
Marian was a people-loving, God-fearing woman. She will be remembered for her generous heart and overwhelming kindness. A military wife for 20 years and dedicated United Parcel Service employee for the next two decades, Marian demonstrated a faith in God that inspired others. She was a joyful soul who enjoyed singing in both the USO (United Service Organizations) and church choir (often going on mission trips around the world). She enjoyed serving others from cooking meals for her church to volunteering at Griffin Elementary school (where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 2010). In addition to her serving spirit, Marian will be remembered for her irresistible pies. She was a fantastic baker and cook (winning multiple contests) who poured as much love into her food as she did into the people around her. She will be dearly missed as her legacy of loving God and serving others continues on in the lives of everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Caines Black and Ron Caines; her grandchildren Caroline, Caitlin, and Conner Black: Brandon and Ashley Caines; her sister Ollie Chandler (Amarillo, Texas), and her brothers Art Linn (Bakersfield, California) and Phil Linn (Odessa, Texas). She is predeceased by her sister Kay Hood; and her husband of 38 years Roger Clark Caines (October 2004). A special thanks to the caring staff of Always Home in Katy that provided such wonderful care for the past two years.
Visitation will be Friday, April 6th from 6-8pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock, TX. A graveside service for friends and family will be Saturday, April 7th at 2:00 pm at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dan Crestman will officiate.
