Eloise West Obituary

Lubbock- Eloise Brinkley West left this earthly life to join God and the heavenly saints on January 9, 2020. We will celebrate her 76 years of life at 2:00 pm today, January 14, 2020, at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas, followed by a graveside service at Kress Cemetery in Kress, Texas.

Eloise West was born on January 16, 1943, to Jewell and Ollie Brinkley in Bailey, Texas. Eloise married Hirum (Gene) West on November 5, 1962, at Medina Air Force Base Chapel in San Antonio, Texas. Eloise greatly enjoyed exploring the world through traveling with her husband. Eloise had a passion to play bridge, and she was a Silver Life Master Duplicate Bridge Player. Eloise's life was characterized by love of family. Her greatest joy was the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. As Eloise's nephew said, "she was someone who hugged you like they meant it and smiled so amazingly that it broke through any pain or troubles you felt at that time. . . I hope you're the one at the gate to greet me someday with one of those priceless smiles and hugs."

Survivors include her husband, Gene West; children, Randel Lee West and Wife Cinnamon West; Sonja Killebrew and husband Craig Killebrew; nine grandchildren, Keaton West, Colton and wife Amber West, Carson West, Bailey Hargrave, Rebecca Grady, Maddie Grace Campbell, Reace Killebrew, Katelyn Killebrew, Tanner Killebrew; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Hargrave, Brinkley Grady, Lane West, Gatlin Hargrave, Timberlin Carey; and sister, Connie and husband Doug Heard; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell Truitt and Ollie Belle Brinkley; one brother, Jim Brinkley; two sisters, Mattie Lois Brinkley and Elaine O'Daniel, all of whom she loved dearly.

The family of Eloise West has designated the charity of one's choice for memorial contributions donated in her memory.

Friends are invited to share memories and expressions of sympathy for the family to cherish and view her life tribute at www.memorialdesigners.net.

Dear Gene,

We did not know that Eloise had passed away. We saw you today while registering voters. We are so sorry to hear Eloise is in heaven. I know she is happy but we will miss her joy and happiness and enthusiasm. We loved her. We were shocked and I guess we missed hearing this because Don was in hospital first week in January after heart attack.

Here is my favorite articles entitled ON DEATH AND DYING.
I don't know the author. But is it so comforting.
Skeet and Don

I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her sails

to the morning breeze and starts for the ocean.

I stand watching her until she fades on the

horizon, and someone at my side says, She is gone!

Gone where? The loss of sight is in me, not in her.

Just at the moment when someone says, She is gone,

there are others who are watching her coming. Other

voices take up the glad shout, Here she comes!'

And that is dying.
