Beloved BILLIE ANN SABALA, of Honolulu Hawaii, passed away on March 31, 2019 in Las Vegas. She was born to Richard and Rosario A. Sabala on August 23, 1936. Billie Ann was a well-known singer in Hawaii, and traveled extensively with her band, Golden Breed, later becoming an entertainment agent and producer. In 1986, she re-located to Las Vegas, where she met Sifu Steven Baugh, eventually partnering with him, successfully promoting the Lohan School of Shaolin and its Chinese Lion and Dragon dance and Martial Arts demonstrations throughout the Las Vegas strip and community over the next twenty five years. Not only was she a Tai Chi Master who taught 18 classes a week until she turned 75, she was also a strong leader and cultural ambassador representing the Asian and Hawaiian community at events each year for over 25 years. In recognition of her important work, the city of Las Vegas appointed Feb. 5th as Billie Ann Sabala Day. Billie Ann made her transition peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Alison Howland, survived by daughters Beth Becker and Sydney Lau, and son Stephen Howland. She was affectionately known as 'Grammy' and 'Mimi' to her 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and lots of hanai grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, April 13th, at 4PM, at the Lohan School of Shaolin, 3850 Schiff Drive. Las Vegas, NV 89103.
