Ruby was a wonderful teacher and more than that she was a good friend
July 3, 2018
Ruby Young was my art teacher at Clark High School. I graduated in 1968, but never forgot her. She was a gifted and talented artist who was also an amazing teacher and human being. She went out of her way to help me personally complete the drawings I needed for an eighty page paper I wrote on the History of Gambling in Nevada. I won first place in the Nevada State DECA competition with her help and was sent to Houston to compete nationally. Winning that award gave me the confidence to go on to college and become a teacher myself. I am so grateful to her. All of her students loved and respected her. May she rest in peace. My sincere condolences to her family.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Ruby in 1976 as a counselor at Clark. She was such a dedicated and gifted teacher that I got to know and admire. Students loved her art classes and her firm but fair teaching style. She served as department chair and mentor for a number young teachers. She will be missed but not forgotten. Ruby was a true educator.
