Thanks, Connie, Beverly and others for your kind words. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Nan, for being the exceptionally loving wife for so many years and to Nan's family for their love, care and concern for Barry and thanks to his many friends for the same. Special thanks to the hospice unit ladies at the Togus VA for their special TLC. Speaking of exceptional, that word, I think, describes Barry perhaps best although many others probably apply as well. Barry and I shared many memories, particularly of our youth. Some may have found me strangely silent since he passed. We all grieve in our own way. Fortunately, Barry passed slowly, or so it seemed, and that gave me time each visit to see him in hospice to hold his hand a while and leave him each time, which was the toughest part for me - leaving. I can't say enough words to describe our relationship over the years. Suffice it, perhaps, just to say that I adored, emulated and loved him like no other ... for his protection, love and tolerance of his "little brother" during the hard times; his sense of wit and humor; and his love of music and the written word in whatever form. Barry was a good man, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. I will miss him terribly. I take some solace in knowing that he's busy now teaching Gabriel how to really play a horn and many a writer how to really coin a phrase. So mote it be.

So sorry to hear of Barry's passing. His mother was like a second mom to me. I'm sure he will be sorely missed by family and friends. My condolences to all of the family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
