Dear Greta, You and Carl are wonderful, long time friends. Both of you loved and mentored scores of Believers. We pray for you and your beautiful family now and for the weeks ahead. Your care for Carl during his illness is remarkable. We will join you at the Celebration of Carl's life tomorrow.
Well done, good and faithful servant ♡♡, Jane & Bill

Dear Greta and Family,
Father Russell was instrumental in my life. He was such an uplifting, caring, kind, spiritual minister to our congregation at St. Andrews. He made everyone feel special and was the reason our youth groups flourished. I treasure a letter he wrote to me when I was heading for college and have spoken so many times about him over the years that my friends feel they know him. May all your wonderful memories of time spent with him bring you comfort in the days to come.
Lovingly,
Carrie Pound Shaw

We will always remember your support in the time of our loss of our beloved Jeffrey Gates. May our prayers be with all of you!

Carl was a very important person in my life.
The years at Christ Church stand out as the most formative in my spiritual journey. I thank God for Carl, and for you.

Super sad to hear this news. Carl was the pastor who married Timothy C Morgan and me in 1989. His preaching and pastoring across the 80s at Christ Church were an integral part of my faith journey as a Christian and church music leader. Rest in peace, dear Carl and prayers for his extended family.

I already miss Carl's willingness to laugh and to find the humor in so many different aspects of life. We would share "The Farside" cartoons and those in the New Yorker which would put us both in stitches. No one else we knew seemed to 'get them' quite like we did. He had many talents including public speaking and singing, and how he cleverly would jury rig a fix for anything not working...or even if it was....he'd "fix" it better anyway. He always had a ready smile for and an interest in people he met and he easily bestowed empathy on those who needed it. May he rest in peace as angels guard his soul. Irene, a longtime family friend.

Fr. Russell brought biblical teaching, evangelical worship, and the name of Jesus to Christ Church Fitchburg. He ignited a spiritual renewal that brought many to Christ. My life was transformed, thanks to his ministry and love of the Lord. Rest in peace, faithful servant.

He was a wonderful man who meant so much to so many. His light will be missed.

Fr Carl was SO instrumental in my life. He established a youth center at St Andrews Episcopal Church where I spent many happy hours with classmates and friends from our community. He was always there to offer advice, guidance, and leadership to anyone needing it.
He was a pastoral leader whose lessons I will always remember and be thankful for.
In 1971 he married my husband and I in the same church I grew up in. After the ceremony I remember him saying to me that he felt this union would be one of his successes. I think his prediction was instrumental in our marriage of now 48 years!
Our sympathies to Greta and his beautiful family who have always maintained a connection to their Millinocket parishioners.
We will hold you in our hearts always Fr Carl♥ Rest in peace

I am distressed to learn of the death of Carl Russell. While growing up in Falmouth, we lived three houses apart and there was a good deal of toing and froing. I came to admire all the Russell family. I wish I had known that he was serving in Darien since I live in the next town and it would have been easy to renew our friendship. Dan Ward New Canaan, CT
