Since I wrote the previous remembrance, the memories have come flooding back

In my youth, she always gave me a the Information Please" almanac as a Christmas gift, which I actually read cover-t-cover and always gifted me generously on my birthdays. despite the fact that money was tight.

For years, the family - her brother, Frank, and sisters:

Gloria (my mother)and father, Aleck J. Grishkevich
EMMANUELA (Mabel)and her husband Alfred Hardy)

as well as myself, my late sister, Carole, and Elaine's children, especially Jim

gathered every Sunday for years for dinner (as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) at her mother's house in Cranford, NJ.

We also spent most summers together in what was my maternal grandmother's cottage (and Jim's).

My maternal aunt. My mother was Gloria Grishkevich. I think her love for Peaks Is. was the thing I'll remember most. She had a extraordinary almost 100 year association with The Island. Her maternal uncle, Mike Marsalle, had a restaurant there "Down Front," the Feed Well. She spent EVERY summer there from about 1920 (!) onward. Before she moved to Peaks Is . year round. Her daughter, Elaine, has been summering there since 1940 (almost 80 years!) and son, Jim, since 1950 (70 years.) Before that she lived in Stratford, CT and Woodside, Queens, NY.
