I will miss Fred stopping by occasionally to check out "his" house! RIP Fred.

Fred and Diane were the best neighbors a person could hope for. We lived next to them on the Blackstrap Road for 7 years. Diane entertained us in the kitchen with snappy molasses cookies. Fred was always ready with a plow, a backhoe, or local knowledge. He let our grandchildren sit on his tractor, which they loved. We built a bean hole on the line between our houses so we could bake beans together. Fred was always ready with a helping hand. He was a great guy. I am sorry he has gone, I send my sympathy to all his family.

Just out of the military and a new Falmouth resident in the early 70s, I met Fred at the Falmouth Town dump. He noticed I was having trouble loading a discarded Ford rear axle into my truck and casually walked over to help. He always moved at Fred Chase speed. With his dry tone, he asked what I needed it for and added that I couldn't beat the price.
Weeks later, I saw Fred at Eddies Variety where he asked me how the axle worked out. That was the beginning of a treasured friendship that has come to an end way too soon.

FRED
Thanks for the advice, support, and friendship !!

I only met Fred in the last 10 years but I always knew his name. He went to school with my mother, Martha (Whitney) Brink and they remained friends and would attend the class reunions. I finally met Fred when my family wanted to build a new home in my hometown of Falmouth. My mother passed away shortly before my home was finished but Fred became a friend to me and my family and he looked out for me because of his friendship with my mother. I always appreciated that from him and looked forward to him stopping by to check in or let me know about things going on in the neighborhood. Fred shared that he was having health problems but was determined to fight it but said that he had lived a good, long and full life and he was good with that. May you rest in peace, Fred, and thank you for all you've done.

We are truly sorry to hear of Fred's passing. He frequently stopped by to see what projects we had going on or sometimes just to chat. He had a great sense of humor. His last visit was in May when he told us he was going to chemo again but he was a fighter and would win the fight. To the family, we are sure he's with you wherever you are. Please accept our condolences and prayers. Ed & Nancy (#9 Pleasant Ave)
