The sudden loss of Gaye was a shock to me and everyone who knew her. My heart goes out to Biff and family and especially my good friends Vickie & Specs. Although there are no answers to comfort your grief, there is much lasting love and so many precious memories from all of her friends that will help heal you with time. Please accept my condolences at this difficult time and know that my heart is heavy with her loss. Please know that I am thinking of you and her at this sorrowful time. Love, Mike Dumas

Until I sat down to write this I did not realize what a large, important part of my life Gaye is. Our lives will not be the same without Gaye's vivality, friendship and down home attitude.

She was my oldest friend. As infants, our apartment doors faced each other and we would play together on the second floor landing. Even after the Eatons abandoned us to Cape Elizabeth, we would visit and play in the chicken coop.

I will miss the stories she had of my father who passed away when I was in the third grade. She knew things about my father I never knew of his sensitivity and how he could create things with his hands.

I will remember meeting her friends at Westbrook, and her short visits on layovers in San Francisco where she and her friends were leading the exciting life of stewardesses curled up with books, knitting or complaining about certain passengers. And of course, the visits every few summers in Gray.

Gaye meant a lot to our family. On 9-11, she drove down from Grey to spend time with my mother in Portland. It was important for her to be with family and just sip tea with my mother to get through the day.

I will certainly miss the annual Christmas card. No matter how careful I was, everything would spill out upon opening. When a card was not received, I would have a call from my sister asking whether Gaye was okay.

Gaye will be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and her memory be a blessing for Will and Biff, for all who knew her and for future generations .

Gaye sent us one of her funny emails only last Wednesday. So was so totally shocked to get a call on Sunday that she had left us. Gaye was one of a kind, always made me laugh. We met in UAL Flight Attendant training in the same class in 1972. We always looked forward to her Christmas letter. We've been invited to Maine so many times for a lobster dinner but never made it. We are beyond sad. We love you Gaye.
