Hi Rog, So sorry to hear this sad news. I do not recall ever meeting Laurie, but felt as though I did from reading your book about 4 people on a 40' sailboat sailing the bounding main to the Carribean. Any wife who would be that brave and daring must have been one stonng first mate. As you continue to sail solo, I know that Laurie will be there with you supporting you and your sons. Sympathy to all your family and particularly the boys and grands. Contact me anytime 29/7! Best, Bill Doughty

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was saddened to hear today of Laurie's passing. She was a childhood friend and again in college at U of M. Always a smile on her face and a friend to all. Condolences to Roger and their sons, and her sister.

I am so sorry to read of Laurastine's as I always hink of her) passing.

I first met Laurestine(that is what I always called her in both Jr High & High School) in 7th grade. Even though our paths have not crossed recently, I found
her to be one of the nicest/kindest people I have ever known. I feel most fortunate to have attended her MEMORIAL SERVICE today; it was truly a beautiful tribute to her in all respects. Thank you, Laurie, for being in my
life. With heartfelt sympathy to your husband Roger, sons Craig & Eric, sister
Vee and their families.

My memories of Laurie are from the early years. She was a warm and gentle person. Her beautiful smile was infectious. She and Roger very kindly opened their home and hearts to us. We will always be grateful for those times spent with them. Rest in peace Laurie.

Aunt Laurie was able to make you feel welcome with just a broad smile, this is one of the first things I remember, having had the good fortune to become part of the Flavin/Marin clan decades ago. I loved her gentle presence and quick wit and the banter, toe to toe she shared with Roger! A lovely person through and through and I/my family were so grateful Laurie and Roger welcomed us on the their boat not long ago, to share a wonderful time and a bright moment of robust health for Laurie following some challenging times. Her grace, warmth and good humor were fully evident and we are forever grateful for the time spent! With love, Lisa Flavin

I only actually met Laurie a handful of timesLaura and Craigs wedding, when Anna and Nick were babies, an occasional crossing of paths in Pittsburgh and Providence. And every time our paths crossed I was struck anew by what a wonderful person she was, with her palpable generosity, quick and easy warmth, and steady and abiding kindness. But in truth I feel like I knew her much better than those few meetings would suggest. This is partly because of how much Laura and Craig and Anna and Nick have always talked about her, and the WAY in which each of them talked about herwith so much love. But more than that, and far less tangibly, I feel like I know Laurie because of how much I see her in Craig and the kidsin their deep down kindness, their patience, their acceptance of others despite foibles or failings, their essential teacherliness. She was an unbelievable person, and she has left a rich and wonderful legacy in these living manifestations of her love. She will be missed.

Like Scott Hodgkins, I also taught fifth grade with Laurie. In fact, our classrooms were across from each other. We often got together at the end of the day to talk about our classes but also to share a laugh. Her smile was very infectious! My thoughts go out
to your family.

Laurie and I taught fifth grade together. She was such a positive influence on so many students and those of us who were lucky enough to work alongside her. I will always remember her kindness, grace and wonderful sense of humor. So many wonderful memories of such a great lady! Best of thoughts to Roger and family.
