Kimberly M. (Doyon) Floyd, 52
PORTLAND - Kimberly M. (Doyon) Floyd, 52, passed away on March 9, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Portland, Kim was the daughter of Henry and Mary Ellen (Clowes) Doyon. She grew up on Munjoy Hill and graduated from Portland High School in 1983.
On Oct. 24, 1987, Kim married Charles "Phil" Floyd where they remained in Portland to begin their family.
Over the years, Kim held several positions with area companies including Mancini Electric and Dale Rand Printing where she worked as a bookkeeper and typesetter. However, in 2006 she took a leap of faith and established her own company, JCC Transportation, LLC. The idea of operating a transportation company came from a desire to be an independent business owner and be able to spend more time with her family. The next thing she knew, she had a business plan, three vans, and a passenger transportation company named after the initials of her three children.
Throughout her life, Kim was known for being a loving, generous, and well organized person who was fiercely independent. Her independent personality could sometimes be confused as stubbornness, but her family wouldn't have wanted her any other way. Family friends often described her as the life of the party. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, never missed her favorite game shows, and loved all animals.
Whenever Phil was required to travel for work, she could be found using the opportunity to take home improvement matters into her own hands often without any warning to Phil. Upon his return home he was always pleasantly surprised by the final results.
Her greatest joy, however, came from the love and care she offered others. As her children were growing up, she welcomed countless friends into their home and made sure they never left with an empty stomach. She was also fiercely proud of her children's accomplishments, big and small. As Kim became a grandmother, she spoiled Henry and Grace as every grandparent should, never missing an opportunity to play with them. Simply put, Kim loved her family and would do anything for them.
Kim is welcomed into heaven by her father, Henry Doyon.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Doyon of Portland; husband of 30 years, Phil Floyd of Portland; children, Jessica Trombley and husband Eric of South Portland, Christopher Floyd and fiancé Mashia Taylor of Gray and Chelsey Richardson and husband Zachary of Brunswick; stepdaughter, Katia Floyd of Fort Hood, Texas. Kim was the loving and spoiling grandmother of Henry and Grace Trombley; and the sister of Kevin Doyon of Rochester, N.H., Daniel Doyon and wife Sue of Portland and Michele McLaughlin and husband George of Randolph. She is also survived by several nephews and extended family members.
The family would like to give special thanks for the care she received at New England Cancer Specialists, Gibson Pavilion of Maine Medical Center, and the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
