VERO BEACH, Fla. - Roland A. Rioux, 93, passed away Nov. 2, 2018, at his home in Vero Beach, Fla.He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Biddeford, to the late Pierre and Diana Cote Rioux. Mr. Rioux served in the United States Air Force for 42 years, both active duty and reserves. He enlisted on April 6, 1943, and served in Europe during WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Cuban Crisis (Bay of Pigs).Following his time in the service, he became a trusted Insurance Agent in Biddeford and Saco during the 1960s, 70s and 80s. His success in the insurance industry lead to a career in both local and state politics. While residing in Biddeford, Roland served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, served as the Police Commissioner, City Auditor, Trust Officer and State Representative of Biddeford, in District 13. Roland was a remarkable man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Rioux of Vero Beach, Fla; son, Douglas Rioux of Saco; brother, Robert Rioux of San Diego, Calif., sister, Irene Nadeau of Biddeford; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved, first wife, Virginia Rioux; brothers, Arthur Rioux, Henry Rioux, Conrad Rioux and sister, Adrienne Heffernan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, November 10, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Fla. We just learned of our dear Roland's passing. He was a wonderful friend and more like a father to Thomas and I . We loved him dearly and will always cherish our relationship with him of over 30 years , may he Rest In Peace We send our most sincere condolence to his wife Ruth and family.
