On September 14, 2018, Aaron Franklin Hahn, Jr. (Frank), age 93 of Collegeville, PA, formerly of Berwyn, PA, died of heart failure at Wellington Terrace in West Chester, PA. One son, Jonathan Albert Hahn, predeceased him as did his two sisters, Catherine Hahn Thomas and Mary Hahn Larson, and three half-sisters, Lucy Hahn Stackhouse, Viola Hahn Miller and, and Laura Hahn Heimer. Franklin was born on New Year’s Eve 1924 in Plainfield Township, Northampton County, PA. He was the second son of Aaron Franklin Hahn and Lucy Hawk Hahn. Along with his brother and two sisters, Franklin attended a two room schoolhouse in Plainfield Township and went on to Nazareth High School, Class of 1942. He then spent his freshman year at Lehigh University, but the advent of World War II altered his educational plans. Hahn enlisted in the Navy and as a result of a competitive exam, he was entered into the Navy’s V12 program at M.I.T Class of 1945 where he earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, Hahn attended Columbia University for officer’s training which he completed just as the war was ending. He was assigned as a navigator on a troop ship plying the waters between Japan and San Francisco and subsequently to a supply ship. He was released from active duty on August 15, 1946. After the war Hahn moved to the Philadelphia area and worked for the International Resistance Company (IRC) as plant manager for their Downingtown facility. After a number of years at IRC, Franklin and three partners established Cermalloy, Inc., now Heraeus Cermalloy in Conshohocken, PA. Hahn was a classical music aficionado, an avid gardener, and a gourmet cook. His mind was sharp to the day of his death. Im deeply sorry that you've lost your beloved husband, father and grandfather. I hope that the memories you've been able to cherish with him stay in your heart to keep you strong. Know too that God is listening to your cries of sadness and for comfort and He will give you what you ask for. (2 Chronicles 6:29,30) My sincerest sympathies.
