Robert Freeman Obituary

Robert Paul Freeman, 83, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Short Hills, NJ & Villanova, PA, passed away on November 23, 2017. Born in New York, NY in 1934, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mai Frances (Honeyman) Freeman. Robert graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1952 and earned his B.A. from John Hopkins University in 1956. He served honorably in the US Army. Throughout his career, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of several companies including Recticon Enterprises, Inc., Data Access Systems, Inc., Scott Laboratories Ltd, Coffee Mat Corporation, International Consumer Brands, Inc., and Microbiological Services, Inc. In addition, he was on the Valley Forge Military Academy and College Board of Directors and volunteered at the Fire Department in Manhasset, NY. Robert had a passion for horses and was a member of the National Horse Show, NYC in the 1970’s and served as an Equestrian judge on the National Circuit. He traveled to many places in his life, for business and pleasure, including London where he loved to see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. He also enjoyed many trips to Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Florida, and Bermuda with his family. Robert was his sons’ biggest sports fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Robert was the loving father of Grant Freeman (Juliana) and Douglas Freeman (Libby); devoted grandfather of Abigail, Kyle, Alasdair, and Blyth; also survived by a former spouse of 23 years, Irene Robertson Blyth. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at Valley Forge Military Academy, 1001 Eagle Rd, Wayne, PA 19087. Interment Valley Forge Military Academy Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, 406 W. 34th St., Kansas City, MO 64111. I have many fond memories of our families having dinner together and going to those soccer games many years back. Irene, Grant and Douglas - sending you my sincerest condolences. You are in my thoughts during this difficult time. I remember Bob being an avid equestrian and enjoying listening to his stories - he will be missed.

My sincere sympathy to IRENE, GRANT and DOUGLAS as well as their respective families.
I met BOB and his family in the early Eighties, when their boys and our son were playing soccer. Our families became good friends.
