Martin Puhl
Mansfield - Martin Puhl, 79, of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at his residence. Born January 29, 1938 in Setschan, Yugoslavia. He was the son of Matthias Puhl and Elisabeth (Wilhelm) Puhl Stanga.
Martin and his family came to the United States in 1956. He began working for the North American Knitting Mill in Mansfield, Ohio. He then went to work for Tappan Company from which he retired. Martin was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz for 60 years where many ethnic Germans, friends, and families gathered and celebrated their cultural heritage. He and his wife were part of the Liederkranz dance group which is in association with the US and Canadian Donauschwaben Society. He was also a member of the Amvets and St. Mary of the Snows Catholic Church. He also enjoyed soccer and golf.
Martin loved his family very much, especially his wife, Nancy. He was quick-witted, funny and found the good in all people.
He is survived by three children, Monica (Hansjurgen) Boehm, Joseph (Kristy) Puhl and Anita McClellan; three grandchildren, Elisabeth (Kristin) Hailey-Bidlack, Austin Bidlack and Jonathan Puhl; step granddaughter, Jolie Booker; great granddaughter, Emma, step father, Josef Stanga, sisters and brothers-in-law, Buzz and Fran Smith, Michael and Patricia Michalski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Martin is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy in 2009; and a son-in-law, Bob McClellan in 2016.
Friends may call on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 South Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario where the funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Rev. Father Nelson Beaver. Burial will be in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to: Danube Swabian Foundation USA c/o William Kolbow, Treasurer 14678 Willamette Ave., Chino, CA 91710.
