I did not know Dennis that well, but in the short time we knew him, he touched our lives positively and immensely. I love reading these memories, and as you can tell, his generous, soft spoken, caring manner touched and made a lasting imprint to all who knew him. My deepest condolences to the entire Waters family.

Dennis was a great classmate and teammate but was an even better friend. My sincere condolences to all the Waters family.
Rest in Peace Weiner.

To Dennis's family:

I am very sorry to hear about your loss of Dennis. I will pray for him and for all of you.

I have a few memories to share with you . . .

I went to grade school and high school with Dennis. I haven't seen him since graduating from high school and moving out of the Rapids area, but I can see in his obit photo the same pleasant smile and twinkle in the eye that Dennis had all those years ago. Dennis was quite friendly, and a bit mischievous too. He often made us laugh (and the teachers too). School would have been quite a bit different without him.

Dennis was very athletic as you probably know. He was the star of our St Mary's Blue-Gold football team that went undefeated in 1966. Winning a grade school championship might not seem like a big deal, but I can tell you that it is still brings back many strong memories to me. Without question, Dennis was the reason for the success of that team.

I heard that Dennis made a heroic rescue at the paper mill many years ago, saving a man's life. I understand that Dennis spent time recovering in the hospital afterward, so it must have been a harrowing experience. I was stunned to hear about this mill accident, but I was not surprised to hear that Dennis made the dramatic rescue. Not sure why, it just seemed to fit.

I am very sad that Dennis's life was cut short. But you can see in these few memories that I shared here that Dennis really had an impact on people, and I hope that brings you some comfort. I am very glad to have known Dennis and will think of him often.
