Erline (Costello) Gladu, 82, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018, at Baystate Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 28, 1936, a daughter of the late Henry and Ouida (Quenneville) Costello. Erline was a graduate of Holy Rosary School in 1955 and worked for several years in the cafeteria of the Holyoke public schools. She enjoyed Sunday drives with her husband Leonard Gladu before his passing in 2001; berry picking, going for walks in the woods, reading, puzzles, bingo, scratch tickets, but most of all loved spoiling her grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother Thomas Costello. She will be dearly missed by her children, David Gladu and his wife Lois of Fountain, CO; John Gladu of Chicopee; and Mary Gifford of Springfield; her grandchildren, Karin, Keith, Eric, Mark, Rachael, Brett, Lauren, Trevor, Carissa, Daniel and Justin; her great grandchildren, Michael, Kayleb, Emmett, Charlotte, Dominic, Lynette, Eliza, Riley, McKenzie, Lillian, Audrey and Janey. She is also survived by her sister Theresa Pond of South Hadley and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 from 4-7PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee Street, Chicopee, MA. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 8AM from Brunelle’s with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Erline’s name may be made to the Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 50 Maple St, Springfield, MA 01102.
