Ethel Neigher Obituary

Ethel Neigher, of Longmeadow, passed away in California on January 13th. She was born 105 years ago in Springfield, where she married her high school sweetheart, Hi. They remained married for 73 exceptional years. She leaves behind her loving sons, Geoffrey, Stephen and Richard; their wives, Karen, Rebecca and Susan; grandchildren, Eric, Julie, Clayton, Alex and Benjamin; and great-grandchildren, Atticus, Ruby and Wilhelmina. Ethel sang beautifully. Excelled at golf. Loved to watch tennis. Could beat anyone at Words with Friends. She gave generously of her time to charitable causes, and her love for her family and friends was inexhaustible. She possessed a sparkling intellect, radiant beauty, and an irresistibly magnetic personality. She was always the life of the party. We will miss the sound of her voice and the warmth of her smile. No party will ever be as bright. A grave side service will be 1:00 PM Friday Jan. 21, 2022 at Beth Israel Cemetery, West Springfield, MA . The Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home is assisting the family. Not sure what to say?

She had so much joie de vie right up to the very end
Running into her in Enfield at Marshall's several times, she was the same Ethel I always knew, full of enthusiasm and with tidbits to share about her three "boys".
The one thing that will always stay with me was going into Enfield Costco a few hours after she had been there, and the demos still being blown away by the woman who they learned was over one hundred, yet looked and acted like someone in her early seventies. That same impression seemed to stay with Ethel, wherever she went.
Well, they say it is in the genes. That means you three boys have many more years ahead of you. Enjoy!!
And know your mother was loved!!!! And will be missed!!

I had the absolute pleasure in taking part in her care for many years. She was a beautiful person and an inspiration. I am thankful for the many "life" discussions we had together. May she rest in peace now with her husband.

Steve- Condolences and sympathy on your moms passing. I have fond memories of going to your house on Sylvin Street, birthday parties in your basement (before you moved to Eunice Drive) and playing at the sand playground. I have a vivid memory of your father picking you up at the sand play ground when he had just purchased a new big fin Chrysler. I also had an enjoyable time with your parents on an Israeli trip in 1992. I hope all is well with you and your family. Best regards--Richard Corbert

Geoff, Steve and Rick,
Your mother was a rare gem! As a volunteer at the Jewish Nursing Home coffee shop, I got to know her well. I admired her devotion to your father and her friendliness to everyone around. Her youthful looks, spirit and energy amazed us all! I was so grateful to zoom her 105th birthday celebration and chat with her for a moment. May her memory be for a blessing.
