Frederick C. Froebel, 86, of Park Street passed peacefully Friday with his loving children and sisters by his side. Fred was born and raised in Springfield. He married and moved to Easthampton to raise his family before moving to West Springfield. Fred served his country during the Korean War with the United States Armed Forces. He worked for the Metropolitan Insurance Company and American Mutual before opening the Fred C. Froebel Insurance Company in West Springfield. He brought along his son in 1994 as a partner. He was a kind hearted fun-loving person, full of life and generosity. Nothing was more important to Fred than his family, and his children thank him for a lifetime full of wonderful memories. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing, photography and gardening. His “special” place was in the Catskill Mountains, where he loved nature and hiking in the woods with his buddies Jake, Sam and Bo. He leaves his three children Sharon A. Okonski and her husband Adam, Faith M. Froebel and her companion Rick Jordan and Eric Michael Froebel and his wife Jennifer. He also leaves two grandchildren Morgan and Crew Froebel, his two sisters Eleanor Marti and Martha “Miriam” Pirro and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Herman “Hienze” Froebel. His service in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery will be held at a later date. Please honor the life of Fred, spend more time with your loved ones and be kind to one another. The West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home is handling all arrangements. For online condolences please visit curranjones.com.

Fred was the best brother in law anyone could ask for. When our children were young, he always welcomed them to swim and spend quality time with their cousins. He was gracious, generous and kind. His absence will leave a void but his memory will live on forever! Michaline Dietz
