Gerald E. Rousseau, 76 of Springfield, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Drummondville, Canada on November 1, the son of Herve Rousseau and Aurore (Therrien). He attended Putnam Trade School in Springfield to pursue a career in lithography. He started out at the Milton Bradley Company, in East Longmeadow. Jerry then took to new ventures in the restaurant industry as the owner of Chinese restaurant Ili Kai in Southington, Ct and then Meadowbrook Pizza Shop in Ludlow, Ma. He was also a bartender at the former Dr. Deegan’s Restaurant in Chicopee, where he met his wife Jeannie. He later resumed his career in lithography and worked as a Pressman for AM Lithography Corporation in Chicopee before his retirement in 2006. Jerry was an avid poker player, always overseeing the table during games with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing baccarat at the Mohegan Sun Casino. He was a fan of horse racing and enjoyed the Saratoga Race Course. He was a great cook. Family and friends would look forward to his amazing Canadian meat pies. He enjoyed planting his vegetable garden every spring. Jerry had a passion for investment in real estate and enjoyed watching Western movies. He liked projects and working with his hands as he was extremely talented in carpentry, often lending a hand to anyone who needed it. Those that knew him loved his sense of humor and infectious chuckle, his welcoming and generous spirit and direct approach to conversation. What he enjoyed most was being surrounded by his family. He cherished many summer vacations in Maine with his wife and family. He was a loving husband to his wife Jeannie (Panico) Rousseau for 31 years and loving father to their daughter Sarah Rousseau and her partner Anthony Morisi of Somers, CT. He was predeceased by his former wife Kathleen (Browne) with whom he leaves their beloved children, Stephen Rousseau and his wife Lisa of Ware, Massachusetts; James Rousseau and his fiancee Kelli of Haverhill, Massachusetts, and Christine Rousseau of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He will be proudly remembered by his five grandchildren Christopher, Kelsey, Kyle, Kaite and Lexi as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his siblings Gisele Tyler and her husband Skip of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Claudette Emirzian and husband John of Ludlow, Massachusetts and Lisa Powell and her partner Tom Lafleur of Springfield, Massachusetts and longtime friend Edward Soja. Due to the current health crisis, a celebration of life will be determined at a future date by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, MA.
