Joseph S. Jagodowski, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke, with his loving family at his side. Born in Holyoke on May 12, 1927, son of the late Sylvester and Rose (Krajewski) Jagodowski, he had lived in Chicopee for most of his life, and was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. A US Navy veteran of WWII, Joseph served with the MA State Police for twenty-one years, retiring as Sergeant in 1972. He then worked as manager of security at Easco Hand Tools in Springfield. He was a member of the Retired State Troopers Association and the American Association of State Troopers. He was also a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks, American Legion Post 430, Knights of Columbus #90 of Holyoke and the Polish National Alliance of Holyoke. Joseph was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching TV News and telling a good joke to make you laugh. He loved to talk of his days being a state trooper and he was a trooper to the end. His family would like to thank his nurses Mariah and Lina, and his personal care assistant Yolanda, who were his angels on earth. Joseph was predeceased in 2013 by his son, Mark A. Jagodowski. He is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Josephine (Malikowski) Jagodowski; loving children, Michael Jagodowski and wife Mary of Easthampton, Martin Jagodowski and wife Deborah of South Hadley, and Joy Mauer and husband Tom of South Hadley; eleven cherished grandchildren and 10 treasured great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Joseph will be held Thursday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Thursday from 9-10:30AM.
