Only once in a lifetime can we hope to be blessed with such a friend!
Leonard M. Grundstrom, 81, of Hampden passed away at his home on May 19th. He was born in Springfield on December 4th 1938 to the late Elmer and Maureen Grundstrom. Leonard proudly served the city of Springfield for 39 years as a dedicated firefighter, retiring as a captain. He also was an acting Constable for the Amherst Police Department until 2018. Leonard will always be remembered as everyone’s friend. He would joke about how he was “Lovable Len, the firefighters friend”. A perfect fit for a man who was friends with everyone, and a man who would always make sure you were loved and taken care of. He could also be found taking studious care of his lawn and meticulous care of his car. In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his siblings Alan Grundstrom, and Annette Caron. He will forever be missed by his loving family including his beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret Grundstrom; his son Jason Grundstrom; daughters Lisa Tinnirella of Greenbrae, CA and Dena Grundstrom of Springfield. He also leaves his sister Carolyn Johnson of Northborough, MA; his grandchildren Ashley Assad, Gavin Lessard, and Luke Lessard III; his great grandson Jayden Grundstrom; as well as a dear friend of many years, William Wilson.
