Dr. Norman Gerard Roy, age 64, of Easthampton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his home. He was born in Pittsfield, son of Theresa (Siok) Roy and the late Norman Roy, attended Housatonic Grammar School, and was a 1974 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School in Great Barrington where he played the trumpet. After high school, Norm attended Quinnipiac University (1976) with a Double Major in Biology and Physical Therapy; while studying at Quinnipiac, he co-authored and published a book on Kinesiology. He then graduated from Westfield State College (1978) with a Bachelor's of Science and his Massachusetts Teacher Certification-Biology, General Science. He then attended Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield (St. Louis), MO, where he graduated cum laude with his Doctorate in Chiropractic (December 1983). He taught science at Monument Mountain before a long career in chiropractic care, which included work in several chiropractic offices before opening Roy Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Easthampton in December 1987. Norm was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Parish in Easthampton, and was currently a member and Eucharistic Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to Knights of Columbus #69 in Chicopee; was a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists; was a past ten-year Board of Health Chairman for the City of Easthampton; and achieved the designation of Advanced Proficiency Activator Doctor. Norm was an avid Big E patron, loved the fireplace in the cold New England weather, and enjoyed grilling, had a passion for cooking, playing guitar, reading, studying, and collecting coasters. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in church, and was a member of the former Folk Choir at Sacred Heart in Easthampton. Besides his mother, Theresa, Norm is survived by his wife of almost 36-years, Nancy L. (Bell) Roy; his three children: Christopher N., Jennifer M., and Jessica L. Roy; his brother, Joseph H. Roy and his wife Christine and their two children: Timothy and his wife Meghan, and daughter Meredith and her three children; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Bell; his sister-in-law, Karen Bell; his brother in law, John F. Bell, Jr., and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and patients. Norm was predeceased by his father, Norman, and father-in-law, John F. Bell. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 9 am from Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton Street, both in Holyoke. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery West, Rock Valley Road, also in Holyoke. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Friday, June 11th from 3 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish, 1945 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.

I first went to Dr Roy in 2001 or so when my sciatic nerve was driving me crazy. After a few weeks or so under his skillful guidance, the issues disappeared. I will be eternally to Dr Roy for his help.
On a personal note whenever I saw him he was always very cheery and friendly. He'll be missed.

Nancy, Christopher, Jennifer and Jessica - my heart breaks for each of you. Norm was my friend and healer for over 30 years. He has also healed my daughter, son-in-law and both granddaughters and they also loved him and relied on and trusted his great skills. His humor and ready smile were always a treasure for us. Heaven is the richer for his leaving us. We will miss him more than words can say. Love to your entire family. His legacy is shown in all the healthy and happy people here on earth. It is with a heavy heart to learn of Dr. Roy’s passing. It truly is unbelievable to know he is no longer with us. Dr. Roy you were a very positive supportive part of my life for 30 plus years and you will be missed tremendously. God bless his family, especially his wonderful wife and business partner, Nancy along with his son and daughters. My heart aches for you all as you go through this sorrow time. Heaven received another good one and he’ll be watching over us making sure we sit up straight and bend at the knees. May happy memories bring you all strength and comfort during this time.

I knew Norm and his family for over 40 years. I don't think I ever met an kinder or nicer person. He was a outstanding chiropractor, friend and man. He was a very likeable guy who everyone loved. We have lost a good man way before his time. With condolences to his family and friends, Joe:)
