Maria (Montefusco) Cardaropoli, 88, passed away at Baystate Medical Center, February 8, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bracigliano, Salerno, Italy on November 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alfonso & Anna (Basile) Montefusco.
After meeting the love of her life, the late Giovanni Cardaropoli, Maria happily spent most of her time, along with working, raising her two cherished children; she loved them to the moon and back. She also loved spending time with family & friends, her gardening, and especially her time spent “working” at her son-in-law’s restaurant, John’s Pizzeria in Chicopee, where she is already missed.
Maria will be dearly missed by her cherished and devoted children, her son Giuseppe “Joe” Cardaropoli with whom she lived and who returned all she had done for him as a child, by being her caretaker for many years, and her daughter, Filomena Capaccio & husband Giovanni of Feeding Hills. As well as by her brother, Giovanni & wife Rosa of Italy, sister, Theresa Montefusco of East Longmeadow, 3 grandchildren, Pasquale Capaccio & wife Jenny, Francesco Capaccio, Palmarina Ochoa & husband Chris, her beloved great-grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella, Nick, Gabriella & Frankie, and many nieces, nephews & extended family. Sadly, Maria was also pre-deceased by her brother, Carmine & wife Antonietta.
As her wish was well known, Maria will be returning to her hometown of Bracigliano to spend eternity alongside her love, Giovanni. Upon Joe’s return from Italy, all are invited to Maria’s Memorial Mass on Monday, March 9th, 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield.

So very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow. Maria worked hard to get back to walking and I will always remember her spunk.
