Sue was my teacher at St. Rose of Lima from 1980-1982, in North Wales, PA. Though she taught 6th-8th grade as her main job, "Mrs. Troxel" managed the entire school (K-8), the church, and every program connected. We always knew she was coming back to the classroom as you could hear the 20 keys dangling from her waist. Though she was a disciplinarian during those days, she had a heart of gold. Sue was always looking out for the students who had learning challenges and family issues. She never gave up on anyone and no one was ever left behind. Sue was a talented musician and singer. She would "rock the church" with her guitar and cello, and her long straight hair would be swaying as she played her favorite tune, "Dust in the wind." I know Sue went on to achieve amazing things in her career but she never forget those early days. We had the pleasure of reminiscing a few years back and we laughed for hours. One final note to honor my friend and mentor: Mrs. Troxel impacted my life as much as any teacher ever could. She shaped my ethics, my confidence, my leadership skills, my empathy, my faith, and my endless curiosity. I will continue to do my best to carry your legacy forward. Rest in peace!
