Virginia Patricia (Julio) Francisco, 80, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Thursday, November 19, 2020. A longtime resident of Chicopee, Virginia was born in Alcobaca, Portugal on June 13, 1940, to the late Joao Julio and Maria Patricia. After moving to the United States with her family, Virginia worked as a machine operator for the Milton Bradley Company in East Longmeadow for many years, before retiring in 2007. She was a devoted parishioner at Holy Name Parish, in Chicopee. Virginia was equally devoted to her family and enjoyed to cook, tend to her beautiful garden, and spend time helping to care for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Antonio Francisco in 1984, as well as two brothers, Antonio and Jose Julio, a grandson, Nino DeSousa, and her brother-in-law Jean-Louis Marques. She is survived by her three sons, Jose DeSousa and his wife, AnnaMaria, of Springfield, Antonio J. Francisco and his wife, Audra, of W. Roxbury, and George Sousa and his girlfriend, Marrie, of Ludlow, two brothers, Anibal V. Julio and Joao Julio, of Portugal, and two sisters, Patricia Marques, of Chicopee, and Celeste Julio, of Portugal. She also leaves two grandchildren, Kyle DeSousa, and Fabio DeSousa and his wife, Christina, and their daughter Alina, Virginia's great-granddaughter. Calling Hours for Virginia will be held Monday, November 23, 2020, from 9:00 to 10:30a.m. at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, with a Funeral Mass to be held at 11a.m. at Holy Name Parish, 94 Springfield St., Chicopee, with burial immediately following in Calvary Cemetery. All those in attendance are asked to please wear a mask and to abide by social distancing guidelines.
